General Cardiology Consultations
- Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) Consultation and treatment pertaining to high blood pressure.
- Dyslipidaemia (High Blood Cholesterol) Consultation and treatment pertaining to high blood cholesterol.
- Diabetes Mellitus (High Blood Sugar) Consultation and treatment pertaining to high blood sugar.
Acute Cardiology Services
- Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) Diagnosis and immediate treatment related to heart attack. This involves admission, procedures and treatment in the ward.
- Hypertensive Crisis (Abnormal High Blood Pressure) Diagnosis and immediate treatment related to abnormally high blood pressure.This involves admission, medical treatment and observation in the ward.
- Arrhythmias (Abnormal Heart Rhythm) Diagnosis and immediate treatment related to abnormal heart rhythm. This involves admission, procedural treatment, medication and observation in the ward.
- Syncopal Attack (Sudden Fainting) Diagnosis and immediate treatment related to sudden fainting. This involves admission, medical treatment and observation in the ward.
Cardiac Risk Assessment
- General Wellbeing Consultation involving pre-employment health checks, new insurance policy applications, and general concerns about healthy living.
- Cardiac Screening Consultation focused on the heart and may involve procedures such as electrocardiogram (ECG), exercise stress test, echocardiogram and CT scan of the heart.

Interventional Cardiology

Angiogram

Recognised worldwide as the gold standard for investigating coronary arteries of the heart, it serves as the basis for decision-making on treatment options for coronary artery blockages.
Angioplasty
- Drug-Coated Balloon A procedure performed during angioplasty where a drug-coated balloon is expanded to allow medication to be absorbed at the affected area, before being deflated and withdrawn.
- Stenting A procedure performed during angioplasty where a metal mesh is inserted at the narrowed area to reopen the coronary artery.
- Complex Angioplasty A combination of multiple techniques used to treat the affected coronary artery, such as intravascular ultrasound, atherectomy, or a hybrid approach combining several methods.

Structural Heart Disease

Congenital Heart Conditions

Consultation and treatment pertaining to abnormal heart conditions such as atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD) and bicuspid aortic valve.
Replacement / Repair
- Implantation / Replacement Procedures such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) involve implanting a new valve in place of the diseased valve to restore blood flow and correct narrowing or valve dysfunction.
- Catheter-Based Procedure A small, thin tube (catheter) is inserted into a blood vessel and guided to the heart. A specially designed closure device is then passed through the catheter and placed across the ventricular septal defect (VSD) to close the hole in the heart.

Electrophysiology

Electrophysiology Study

A diagnostic test to check for abnormal heart rhythm and measure electrical pulses in your heart. An electrode map is used to trace electrical signals in the heart and locate the affected area.
Radiofrequency Ablation

Once the affected area is located, a catheter is introduced to deliver high-frequency energy as heat, destroying a small area of heart tissue that is causing the problem. The resulting scar tissue then blocks the abnormal electrical signal.
Pacemaker Implantation

A small device called a pacemaker is implanted under the skin to help control slow or irregular heart rhythms. It sends gentle electrical impulses to the heart to maintain a normal heartbeat.

Heart Failure

Heart Failure Care

A condition where the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body’s metabolic needs, reducing cardiac output and increasing pressure in the heart.
Multidisciplinary Management

This is a multidisciplinary care pathway involving diet and lifestyle changes, drug therapy, and fluid restriction, and may also require device therapy such as implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy, and mechanical circulatory support.

Specialist Imaging Consultation

Consultation with a specialist who specialises in reporting, monitoring and managing heart conditions.
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

High-resolution imaging to detect abnormalities in heart structure and tissue.
Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT)

Using coronary angiography (CTCA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring to detect and evaluate plaque buildup in the coronary arteries.

General Vascular Consultation

Consultation and treatment advice pertaining to artery and vein issues from head to toe.
Initial medical advice and lifestyle advice will be given. If this is not successful, our Consultant Vascular Surgeons may recommend surgical intervention.

Acute Vascular Conditions We Treat Include:

Acute Arterial Occlusion

A blockage in the peripheral arteries that prevents blood and oxygen from flowing to a limb. This can be treated by removing the clot (thrombectomy), dissolving the clot with medication (thrombolysis), removing plaque buildup (endarterectomy), or creating a new path for blood flow (peripheral artery bypass surgery).
Acute Venous Thrombosis

A sudden blockage in a deep vein caused by a blood clot, commonly occurring in the legs. It can be treated medically with blood thinners (anticoagulation) or with a procedure to remove the clot.
Acute Limb Ischemia

A medical condition involving a sudden decrease in blood flow to a limb, which can affect the limb's viability and requires immediate treatment. The symptoms to watch out for are the 6 P's: pulselessness, pain, paralysis, pallor, poikilothermia (coldness), and paraesthesia (numbness).

Interventional Vascular Procedures

Angioplasty and Stenting

A minimally invasive procedure to reopen narrowed or blocked arteries and restore blood flow by the introduction of balloon or metal mesh.
Thrombolysis

Treatment to dissolve blood clots in the blood vessel.
Embolisation

A minimally invasive procedure to stop a bleeding vessel by blocking blood flow to the affected area, guided by a catheter.
Access Intervention (Dialysis and Chemoport)

Assessment of blood vessel viability and creation of a fistula between an artery and vein in preparation for dialysis, or insertion of a chemoport for oncology patients.

Consultation and treatment for lung cancer screening and biopsy, with co-management of patients alongside Interventional Radiologists, Cardiologists, and Pulmonologists.

Lung Diseases

Co-management, together with a pulmonologist, of lung diseases such as over-inflated lungs (emphysema) and thickening or scarring of lung tissue (fibrosis).
Lung Cancer
- Comprehensive screening, diagnosis, and treatment for lung cancer.
- Multiple investigations are available for accurate diagnosis, such as ctDNA blood tests, low-dose CT thorax, endobronchial ultrasound, and indocyanine green for lung biopsy.
Lung Resection and Repair

Removal of diseased lung (due to cancer, infection, injury, or bronchiectasis), ranging from a small wedge-shaped section, a segment, or a lobe, to an entire lung.
Mediastinal Surgery

Surgical management of diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infections located in the central part of the chest wall between the lungs (mediastinum).
